Veronica Thigpen for Piedmont Schools

Thursday, August 27th, 2020

We, the Piedmont Racial Equity Campaign steering committee members, are thrilled to announce our endorsement for Veronica Anderson Thigpen for PUSD School Board.

We believe that electing extraordinarily well-qualified candidates like Veronica who have a demonstrated commitment to racial equity is an important first step. One of the founding goals of PREC was to work on diversifying Piedmont by recruiting and electing more diverse candidates who would offer different and important perspectives to help create a more racially just city.

When elected to the Piedmont School Board, Veronicas’ focus will be on these priorities:

  • Equity: Centering equity as a core value and practice in every classroom, in every school, across the District.

  • Educational Excellence: Ensuring continuity of educational excellence, even during these challenging times.

  • Empowering Students: Creating a forum and open dialogue for student voices, so students at every grade level feel welcomed, heard, understood and empowered.

Please visit to learn more about Veronica, her experience and her goals for Piedmont’s education system.

Thank you to all who have already endorsed her and have shared your time and networks to help this campaign. The website provides opportunities to volunteer, donate, sign up for a free lawn sign, share an endorsement, or share your ideas with Veronica. She wants to know what all of us want and need from our School Board, especially during these tumultuous times.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to Amy Griffith, Endorsements Manager,, with thoughts, questions, or to get more involved in the campaign.

Be well,

Your PREC Steering Committee
